Student Group Funding Board
Student Group Funding Board (SGFB)
SGFB, or Student Group Funding Board, funds an extremely diverse range of student groups.
SGFB is a unique board because while it funds campus events and travel to conferences like Representative Council and CCS, SGFB also provides operational funding to student groups. The SGFB Code and the Student Fee Regulations can be found on the governing documents page.
Biggest Changes to SGFB Funding:
1. SGFB will now have a bi-weekly hearing process. Every two weeks SGFB will be conducting hearings for funding for the 2013-2014 school year. This bi-weekly hearing process gives all student groups, the opportunity to receive funding from SGFB.
2. SGFB applications will be due by 5:00 pm on the Friday before the hearing. All application materials must be submitted from your group@colorado.edu e-mail to sgfb@colorado.edu.
3. The new SGFB legislation outlines a Three Level system for allocations:
I. Level One: a new group that has been in good standing with SOFO for one month to one year; may only receive travel funding for up to two of its members and may only travel once a year; may only receive funding for one event per semester (fall/spring).
II. Level Two: a student group that has been in good standing with SOFO for one to two years and has demonstrated a presence on campus and is growing in members and visibility; may only receive travel funding for up to five members and may only travel twice a year; may only receive event money for two events, which must take place during the academic year.
III. Level Three: a student group that is in good standing from SGFB and SOFO and has met or exceeded student group standards rules for three or more consecutive years; is eligible to receive the full amount of travel and event money to support any number of travel opportunities which the group has participated in or sponsored for three or more years.
4. Each student group will be assigned a member of the SGFB board to act as liaison throughout the year. This liaison will act as the main contact person from SGFB to the student group receiving funding.
5. All student groups must hold at least three (3) organization meetings during the fall and spring Semester to be eligible for funding. These meetings must be open to all CU students.
6. SGFB may fund hourly payroll for student employees or student group officers. Following the Student Fee Regulations, a maximum of 10% of the entire allocated operating budget may be designated for payroll. Payroll to non-student employees or independent contractors shall be funded only for one-time or infrequent services such as training, website design, or graphic design.
7. All student groups are allowed to spend a maximum of 5% of their operational budget on food for their meetings, retreats, and other official functions they host, not including special campus-wide events.
8. Any monies that remain in a student group account from SGFB allocations may not be carried over into the next fiscal year.
9 If the SGFB determines by a preponderance of evidence that a student group has violated any CUSG legislation, regulation, guideline, or state or federal law, the group will be appropriately sanctions according to the Violation Tier System outlined in the Student Fee Regulations.
